What's The Story? Sarah-Jane Mee and panel debate winning at all costs

David Howell, Gail Emms, Owen Slot and Tony Rea are the guests on What's the Story?

This week it is all about the importance of winning: is winning a habit? can obsession lead to success? is excessive pressure counter productive? is winning always more important than taking part? is the desire to win actually about the pursuit of fame and fortune? is a win-at-all-costs mentality the only viable approach in professional sport? how much is too much in the quest for glory?

Fresh from his recent success in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, Howell joins us in the studio along with former badminton star Emms, The Times journalist Slot and London Broncos coach Rea.

The show will have a strong Champions League flavour as we discuss the pressure on managers and players to win the competition and reflect on the events of the latest round of fixtures in the context of our winning theme.

Sarah-Jane Mee will lead the discussions that will also include whether the winner-takes-all format of the Super League Grand Final makes the event what it is, as well as the importance and attitudes to winning in other sports such as badminton, cycling and tennis.

For lengthy discussion on these topics and more, tune into What's The Story?, 10.00pm, Wed, Sky Sports 1.
