Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking saw his side relinquish a two-goal lead in the 2-2 draw against former club Nurnberg.

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking saw his side relinquish a two-goal lead in the draw against former club Nurnberg. Diego and Ivica Olic had put the Wolves into a commanding position, but Nurnberg mounted a spirited comeback to take a share of the spoils thanks to goals from Timmy Simons and Per Nilsson in the second half. The draw maintains Nurnberg's three-point advantage over their hosts with both sides at a safe distance from the Bundesliga relegation zone. Wolfsburg made a dream start when Diego curled in a direct free-kick after just two minutes. Nurnberg responded well, but when it looked like they were getting close to levelling, Olic scored for the fifth game in a row to double the home side's lead. He curled in an unstoppable effort from outside the penalty area to put the Wolves in the driving seat. Nurnberg's fighting spirit set them apart under Hecking and they continue to show the same values under his successor Michael Wiesinger. Simons brought them back into the game in the 61st minute with a fine volley from long range which left Diego Benaglio no chance in the Wolfsburg goal. Just five minutes later, Nilsson brought Nurnberg level when he got in ahead of Simon Kjaer to meet Hiroshi Kiyotake's free-kick and silence the VW-Arena faithful. Nurnberg even had chances to win it, but Markuse Feulner missed their best one before Diego failed to repeat his earlier magic with another free-kick, the last kick of the game.
