A solitary goal from Adrian Patulea gave Lincoln their first away win for two months and piled the pressure on Notts County boss Ian McParland.
The Romanian followed up his double in the demolition of Accrington last week by steering Aaron Brown's cross home from 12 yards.
County have won only twice at Meadow Lane this season and McParland has come under fire after just two wins in 11 league games and elimination from the FA Cup at the hands of non-league Kettering.
His side created few clear chances. Myles Weston, Matt Hamshaw and Delroy Facey all spurned chances to test Lincoln keeper Robert Burch.
Lee Frecklington could have extended Lincoln's lead on two occasions but fired wide both times.
