Johnson confirms Baxter approach

Oldham could lose Jose Baxter before the transfer window closes after boss Lee Johnson confirmed an approach has been made.

The former Everton trainee struck 15 times to move him onto the radar of other clubs this summer and Latics boss Johnson concedes it is '50-50' whether the 21-year-old remains at Boundary Park past Monday's deadline. Speaking to Oldham's official website, he said: "We have had an approach and some interest in Jose and we have to decide whether or not it is right for the club. "We have to decide whether it is right for all parties, whether we can replace him, does he want to go or stay and all sorts of things will be going on in the next two or three days. "It may not happen and I would say it is very much 50-50 at the moment. "Jose is a great player and we don't want to lose him. I am sure whether it is here or elsewhere he will go on and do well in football because he is a good lad."
