Winger excited by start of new season

Reading new boy Garath McCleary believes he has settled well at the Madejski Stadium and is relishing the start of the new Premier League season. McCleary was the Royals' first signing of the summer after joining on a free transfer from Nottingham Forest. The 25-year-old made his debut in last weekend's pre-season friendly with AFC Wimbledon and he admits he has adapted quickly to his new surroundings "I am settling in quite well. It has been really good as everyone has taken to me quite well and I know some of the new signings and some of the players who were already here," McCleary told skysports.com. "It has been really good and I am really enjoying it."

Excited

The flying winger, who was playing non-league football just five years ago, cannot wait for the start of the serious action in the Premier League next month. "I am really excited and I can't wait to test myself in Premier League," added McCleary. "I think it is where every professional footballer wants to be. "I just want to get the games under way. Pre-season is really as you get your fitness from it, but as soon as the Premier League starts and you know you are involved in it it will be a fantastic place to be and I just cannot wait. "As soon we get out and play the first game of the season I think it will hit me how far I have come in such a short space of time."
