The agent of Valenciennes' Brazilian defender Carlos Gil expects his client to return to his homeland at the end of the season.

Brazilian defender could head home in the summer

The agent of Valenciennes' Brazilian defender Carlos Gil expects his client to return to his homeland at the end of the season. The 24-year-old only moved to France from Cruzeiro last summer, but he has experienced difficulties settling in a new country. He has regularly expressed a desire to head home and was understood to be closing on a deal during the January transfer window. No agreement was put in place at that time, but a move could still be pushed through. Gil's Brazilian representative says he is confident a switch will be sealed, with the Valenciennes adventure having backfired.

Unhappy

Omar Vasconcelos told L'Equipe: "I am not satisfied. Carlos will leave the club at the end of the season. "The chairman has not kept his word, he is not fair and has taken us for fools. "Carlos is not happy, he calls me almost every day saying he wants to leave. His wife will also be going back to Brazil soon. "He is playing more at the moment, and playing well, but is not possible to stay."
