Ki-hyeon gives heart and Seol

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson believes Seol Ki-hyeon is beginning to fulfil his undoubted potential.

Korean winger back to his best

Fulham boss Roy Hodgson believes Seol Ki-hyeon is beginning to fulfil his undoubted potential. Prior to this season, the South Korea international had struggled to make an impact in the Premier League during his time at Reading and the Cottagers. He saw his first-team opportunities limited as a result, leading to speculation that he was set to quit Craven Cottage this summer. However, he fought his way into contention during a pre-season tour of his homeland and has been rewarded with back-to-back starts against Hull and Arsenal. "Korea was the turning point for Seol," said Hodgson. "He went back there and realised what a big star he is in the country. "He's very well perceived over there despite the fact he hasn't made the grade in the Premiership yet."

Competition

Hodgson has been impressed by the 29-year-old's new-found belief, and backs the former Wolves winger to make the most of the opportunity which has been handed to him. "You can't put that down to managers like (former boss) Lawrie Sanchez and myself not giving him chances. At this level you don't get many chances," added Hodgson. "If you get an opportunity and it doesn't work out for you at a place where competition for places is strong, you run the risk of not getting another chance. "I think that now he's coming to terms with that."
