Basement boys offer Frenchman chance to win move
Derby have invited former Newcastle ace Laurent Robert for a trial.
Robert is looking for a new club after leaving Spanish side Levante.
Ipswich had shown an interest in the Frenchman, but now Derby are set to offer him the chance to win a move to Pride Park.
Rams boss Paul Jewell confirmed Robert will link up with Derby for a short trial later this week.
"Yes, he is coming in on Friday to train with us so that we can have a look at him and see how he looks," Jewell told
Sky Sports.
"We are trying to bring in four or five, if not more new faces to help the group.
"He [Robert] is going to train with us for a couple of days to see what condition he is in and see if he is right for us and right for him."
