Frecklington and Beevers score for visitors after Yeo put hosts in lead

Lincoln came from behind to seal three points at Macclesfield after the hosts' captain Sean Hessey gift-wrapped the victory with a horrid defensive howler. The defender was trying to cushion a speculative cross from Lee Beevers at the far post in the 83rd minute but he only succeeded in placing it straight into the path of Lee Frecklington who gleefully accepted the winner from eight yards. Frecklington was making amends for his weak back-pass in the fifth minute that sent Simon Yeo racing clear to drive home his sixth goal in eight games. Yeo might have added a second for the hosts five minutes later but could only put a half-chance into the stands from the edge of the box. Hungarian centre back Janos Kovacs should have done better with a powerful header on 28 minutes but he set up the Imps' equaliser on the stroke of half-time when a more accurate header came back off the crossbar and Beevers stroked home the rebound from close range. The hosts should have retaken the lead on 60 minutes only for Imps' keeper Rob Burch to pull off a stunning save to thwart a Terry Dunfield effort. Then on 78 minutes Yeo should have squared a simple pass to strike-partner Martin Gritton but instead went for glory with the chance going begging meaning Hessey's defensive error which led to Lincoln's winner proved the difference.
