Elding strike seals Imps win

Lincoln beat promotion-chasing Wycombe thanks to an Anthony Elding goal.

On-loan striker dents Chairboys' promotion push

Lincoln grabbed their first home win in three months by beating promotion-chasing Wycombe 1-0. City produced a much-improved performance and went close after 21 minutes when a powerful shot from Scott Kerr was pushed over by Wycombe keeper Jamie Young. They then took the lead in the 49th minute when on-loan striker Anthony Elding converted a low cross from Aaron Brown. Wycombe should have levelled almost immediately when a corner from Craig Woodman fell to Matt Harrold at the far post but the striker smashed his shot into the side netting. Chris Zebroski then outpaced the Lincoln defence but finished with a weak shot which failed to trouble City keeper Rob Burch, before Will Antwi was off target with his 75th-minute header. Harrold then found himself in plenty of space outside the box but again shot wide, and Lincoln could have added a second goal late on when Ben Wright broke clear but his shot was well saved by Young.
