Andrey Arshavin inspired Russia to a 2-0 win over fellow Euro 2012 qualifiers Denmark. Russia proved too good for the Danes at the Parken, and will be a boost to Advocaat and his men. Advocaat's men also made sure it was a miserable way for Danish keeper Thomas Sorensen to mark his 100th appearance for his country. Russia began well and were ahead after just four-minutes. Arshavin, who is now on loan at Zenit St Petersburg, found Roman Shirkov on the left and he cut inside before unleashing an unstoppable shot past Sorensen. Denmark were not without their chances and moments after Russia's opener, Simon Poulsen tested Vladmir Gabulov and Nicklas Bendtner spurned a good chance after being set-up by Dennis Rommedahl. Denmark enjoyed possession, but they could carve out anything clear cut and Russia took advantage by grabbing the second just before the break. This time Arshavin did the work himself, coming in from the left before firing past a helpless Sorensen. With a two-goal advantage Russia never looked in danger of not winning, and that is how it proved. Substitute Tobias Mikkelsen had couple of good chances for Morten Olsen's side but it was poor fare from the home side.
