Fryatt nets crucial goal as Leicester set record

Matt Fryatt's 21st goal of the season was enough to earn Leicester a 1-0 victory at Bristol Rovers as the Foxes set a club-record 20 league games unbeaten in their hunt for promotion. But the runaway leaders needed a brilliant penalty save from debutant goalkeeper Mark Dunn after 55 minutes to protect their lead as they broke the 38-year-old mark. Fryatt volleyed the visitors in front after 20 minutes, lifting the ball over Steve Phillips after Steve Howard had headed on a free-kick but it was backs to the wall for City in the second half after centre-back Jack Hobbs was sent off for fouling Darryl Duffy. Dunn saved the resulting spot-kick from substitute Ricky Lambert by diving to his right and palming the ball away. Rovers battled away at the resolute Leicester defence, trying to make the most of their numerical advantage, but they struggled to create many clear-cut chances. In fact the Foxes could have won more comfortably as Phillips made a fine save to deny Fryatt a second four minutes from time when he blocked Fryatt's 12-yard strike. Substitute Tom Cleverley was also denied by a fine save from the Rovers keeper when he raced through the middle in the second half.
