Lambert strike gives Pirates victory

Rickie Lambert's 20th goal of the season for Bristol Rovers secured his side a 3-2 triumph over battling Cheltenham. The Rovers striker won the game five minutes from time with a right-footed finished after making room for himself in the box. Cheltenham went ahead through Ashley Vincent's 10th minute shot, but Lambert equalised with a near-post finish after 20 minutes. The visitors were back in front through Lloyd Owusu's strike after 51 minutes, only for substitute Darryl Duffy to equalise six minutes from time. Cheltenham keeper Scott Brown did well to keep out a Lambert header but Duffy was on hand to net the rebound. Lambert's winner followed almost immediately and Martin Allen's relegation battlers were forced to make the journey home with nothing to show for a major contribution to a stirring game. Rovers also hit a post through substitute Craig Disley's second-half header as they enjoyed the majority of chances.
