Glamorgan ended their season on a high, defeating LV= County Championship season Division Two rivals Gloucestershire by eight wickets in Cardiff.

Following a washout on day three, the Welsh county bowled their opponents out for 132 on Friday before then chasing down a target of 102 in 30.3 overs.

Glamorgan had started the morning still at the crease in their first innings, last-wicket pair Michael Hogan (42 not out) and Dean Cosker (28) putting on 62 to carry them to 306 all out - meaning a lead of 31.

Gloucestershire wiped out the deficit without losing a wicket and although Hogan had Chris Dent caught behind for 13, the visitors looked safe when they reached 73-1.

However, they suffered a dramatic collapse before lunch - losing four wickets for five runs in 13 balls - with Ruaidhri Smith claiming two wickets in an over.

Jim Allenby also claimed two scalps in the morning session before seeing off Tom Smith and Graeme McCarter after the break, giving him final figures of 4-16.

Former New Zealand international Hamish Marshall did manage to bring up the milestone of 1,000 runs for the season during his knock of 17.

But Murray Goodwin, who finished up unbeaten on 50 from 106 balls, and Chris Cooke (31no) steered the hosts over the finishing line with 11.3 overs to spare at the SWALEC Stadium.
